Sunday Best!

Church was wonderful today. We had a great service and dinner afterward. It's great to go to church and get regenerated for the next week to come. Jada was looking quite pretty in church today so I thought I would share her with her kinfolks. Have a good week and God bless you.

Long Weekend In Pensacola

Hey, I decided to take a break and go to Pensacola this weekend to visit, Bee, Angie and Maya. It was coooooooold, 27 degrees overnight. I saw Ice on my car! Driving through the pouring rain to get there on Saturday, I thought, "what am I doing?" But it has been so worth it. Shopping on Saturday was fun with Angela. Unfortunately Bee was on her way to a MLK event and fell in her yard. We took her to the ER and she checked out fine, just sore but no breaks or sprains. We went to Foley AL for more shopping on Sunday .......If you know me you KNOW that I am NOT a shopper but Angela is helping me work through my anti shopping issues :) Great bargains in Foley. They have a gigantic area of outlet stores. Deborah Pierce would have loved it! We went to a resturant called Lambert's Cafe, Home of the throwed rolls. That's right they literally throw hot rolls to you on request. Rolls were flying through the air all over the place. And the food..... it was over the top. You get a meat and two veggies plus people come around offering extra fixings....like peas, okra, fried potatos and onions, syrup and delicious apple butter. It was great fun. The waiters and waitresses also play tricks on customers that are just fun. I highly reccommend a weekend of shopping and eating and visitng with family. I will add photos of the trip as soon as I get them from Angela. I forgot my camera!

Wedding Bells

Dom Dom da Dom.....No not me silly, Kenney and Keesha. I got my "save the date" card in the mail and it was beautiful. I am so looking forward to visiting with my family in July in New Jersey. I'm overdue a trip to NJ but with the change of management at my job I've kind of been on lock down. Things have calmed down quite a bit but we are working on overdrive trying to get ready to move to our new location on 11th street. We will not be able to be off during spring break this year and I can only take a few days off this summer but I am going to pray that all goes well and I am able to attend the big day. I hope that all the "Pierce Family" members can make it too! So congratulations Kenney..."He who finds a wife finds a good thing." God Bless you one and all! San

Movie Review

The Great Debaters, what a great movie! Angela (Bee's daughter) and I had dinner and went to the movies tonight and had a great time. The movie was produced by Harpo (Oprah) and directed by Denzel Washington with a fine slate of young actors. I made the mistake of reading reviews online after the movie an they made me sick. The movie was a work of fiction inspired by events in history, hence historical fiction. Critics blasted it because some things were changed, fictional characters on the team, and the final debate was held at Harvard instead of USC where it was really held. The movie, I felt was well worth the price of a ticket which I can't say about most movies made these days. Unfortunately, there were only five people in the theater. Anyway, go see it and take it for what it is, historical fiction. If you want the real story do some research. ****stars.

Two Thoughts

I had this afternoon off and will be off on tomorrow. My grandchild got wind of it and called me up just to say hello (not)! The conversation went like this "hello Grandma San this is Jada", I said "hi Jada what's up?" Jada says "I just called to say hi. Oh are you off tomorrow?" I say "why" she says "oh you could pick me up after school if you wanted to...but you don't have to." I said what do you want me to do? and she repeated... You could pick me up if you want to but you don't have to." I said YOU have to ask Danielle. (Jada knows Danielle likes for her to go to her afterschool program). Jada says "oh I'll take the phone to mama." She gives the phone to Danielle and says "Grandma San wants to ask YOU something."
Danielle said ok, but we both agreed that Jada knows how to work her business. Jada would make a wonderful politician or a lawyer (no offence Alonda)

On another note:

We have been studying Job in Bible study and I have been blessed by the message. Don't let anything shake your faith in God because in the end you will have the victory. Job's friends tried to convince him that he was sick because of sin in his life. Not so because Job was a righteous man, his wife said to curse God and die, but she was wrong. Job stayed in faith and in the end after praying for his friends God blessed him with more that what he had lost. So stay in faith, no matter the circumstance.

OK I just felt like getting that out! No, I am not preaching, just excited about the word. LOVE YOU ALL SAN

New Point of View

Ok, I heard from one of my nephews with a different perspective on voting choices. This is a quote from Kenney in the comment section and it's certainly noteworthy and I felt that everyone should see it so I hope you don't mind Kenney but here it is: Ken said
"What if another charismatic black man with very little experience was running against Hillary. Say, a man who's birthday we celebrate every year in January? Of course, Obama is not MLK, but the presidency is not about calling all of the shots. Much of the work is accomplished via the members of the cabinet. This is an historic time that could possibly pave the way for other black women and men in politics for years to come. Puttin a black man in the white house says, "It's possible." Obama's election would desegregate what may be the most coveted position of the free world".
Well stated Ken. I'm waiting for the results of the New Hampshire primary as we speak. I'm just hoping for something good to happen in Washington!

Sunday Sunday Sunday

Today has been a beautiful day in PC. Weather in the 70's, a big change from last weeks 20's. If you follow politics then you know that the Iowa Caucaus turned out a lot different than what was expected. Yes Fred I am a Hillary fan. She is smart, she has more experience and yes her secret weapon is my main man "Bill." Plus I think she has a better chance to beat the people from the "dark side" (Repubican's oops I meant Republicans). I think we all have had enough of the Bush machine. Thank God Florida's old (Jethro) is not in the race. He knew better to even try it with his brother's approval ratings in the teens. I am willing to listen and have been listening to what Obama has to say but I think it is a long shot for him to take the country. I do admit that there is a first time for everything, I just don't know if it is his first time. The Florida Primary is this month so FL relatives if you haven't registered please do right away like now so that you too can have a voice.
Have a good week and remember to pray for family members and fast if you are able to. Monday or Friday both breakfast and lunch or more if you can handle it.
I love you all. Jada's grandmother and Smith Pierce's daughter(politics)

To Blog or Not to Blog? This is the Question

Ok... Maybe I've gotten a little carried away with this blogging thing. Really, I think it's very neat and I have some time on my hands right now. Maybe the excitement will wear off and I will stop but for right now I'm enjoying it. The question is...are you? I've only received one comment so far from Kitty. She is my #1 reader-responder. The remainder of the family has remained silent. To comment you have to join blogger which is really easy. Just follow the directions when asked to sign up. You don't have to set up a blog just join and then you will be allowed to comment. If you don't want to do that then just email me directly with your comments or input or happenings or just tell me to get a life. If anyne has an email address for the Tampa relatives please send it to me so that I can at least send them my blog. If you don't really care about this it will not hurt my feelings but I will continue to send unless you ask not to be on my list of recepeints. I hope everyone had a great day, it's still cold here in smallville but expected to warm up considerably on Saturday and Sunday. Old man winter is in the House! Stay warm and remember I love you but God loves you Best.

Cold Weather and Goatees

Burr, It's cold today in Panama City. Hard freeze last night and tonight it's suppose to be in the 20's. I actually had to wear a coat today for the first time in a long time. Here's some news that will warm us up...Edna is home from the hospital and sounded good on the telephone tonight. She is one strong woman. Kitty's arthirits is acting up but she keeps on going in spite of the pain. Remeber to pray for both of them. Kitty told me that Fred now has grown a little goatee and looked very cute so I had him to send me a picture so I could judge for myself.(Is the word really spelled goatee???) He does look quite striking doesn't he????? I told him he looks like a grown man now, and he replied that he has been grown for a long time. He just didn't look it. Baaaaaaaa Stay warm and Keep the Faith.
Love You All:
San, mymama, grandma san, aunt San, T-san, and sandra gail to some.

Happy New Year

Happy 2008! We made it to see another year! I can't believe that Jason and Danielle will be 30 years old this year, Jada will be 9, and I'll be 53 if the Lord wills. Time has really gone by quickly! We are looking forward to this new year with excitement. We have some big events coming up this year. Kenney and Kiesha will be marriad on July 19 in NJ, Kitty is planning a family reunion after the wedding. God has really blessed us and will continue to bless this family. I'm hoping everyone can come to this reunion. It will be great for everyone to get together again. I pray that God Blesses and keeps my entire family during this year. Please remember to fast and pray for one another. Prayer Changes Things. Love you All
